In the County: A Community Photograhpy Project
In the County is a community documentary photography project about rural life in Colusa County, California. Its purpose is to explore, deepen, question, or complicate the relationship between people and land in the Sacramento Valley.
Developed as a collaboration between the Colusa County Arts Council and the [Placeholder] project, In the County invites local photographers to join group photo walks at working farms, learn digital photo editing techniques, and experiment with analog film formats in the community darkroom. Emerging teaching artists lead each session of this panoramic arts education experience, strengthening the creative economy of Northern California and sustaining local partnerships between artists, community members, farmers, and land managers.
This portfolio represents marketing, program copy, and photographic work made during the inaugural voyage of In the County, which took place across fifteen weeks in the winter and spring of 2026.

Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument: A Naturalist’s Guide
Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument: A Naturalist’s Guide was a nature writing project funded by the Upstate California Creative Corps in 2023.
It explored the plant and wildlife of California’s Inner Coastal Range, situated in Yolo, Lake, Glenn, Colusa, and Mendocino Counties. The project sought to connect the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to larger issues relating to public lands, climate, and the conservation movement in the 21st century.
